Sandtris

Sandtris is a block puzzle game where players have to make full-color lines from melting blocks of sand. Rotate every block before landing and consider the movement of sand while making color lines that do not have any leaks.

Game Introduction

Sandtris uses the tried-and-true concept of falling blocks, but without the hard edges that make the game easy to predict. When the block hits the bottom, it falls apart into grains that move, fall, and leak out of cracks. Lines are cleared by matching the color across the entire line, so an almost completed line is still not safe if there is another color in it. The movement of the sand makes each block placement unique. A block that looks perfect before it falls may be a mess right after hitting the pile of sand below it.

How to Play Sandtris

Move and rotate the piece prior to landing it in the pile, and consider where the pieces will fall within the pile. Build large color lines rather than high blocks that leak through the gaps. A slight incline could be used to get the sand to fall into the desired crevice, so do not base your placement on just the outline of the block. When you have a color almost making a connection, guard that area from the other color. Faster placements should only occur after you are sure the landing site is safe.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why do the pieces break down in Sandtris?
It is because the game makes use of falling-sand physics, and the blocks disintegrate to form sand after landing.
How can I remove a line?
Join up the same color all the way across the board. Having gaps in the color line will not work, no matter how full it seems.
